Air Suspension Application Guide
ALPHA Air Suspension

Why Do I Need Air Springs?

When you load your truck with a trailer, camper, or heavy payload, the rear end squats — causing sag, sway, bottoming out, headlights aiming skyward, and light steering as weight shifts off the front axle.

Pacbrake air springs sit between the frame and axle and carry part of that load: air them up to match the weight and the truck stays level, stable, and rides properly whether loaded or empty. They don't raise your tow or payload rating; they let your truck handle its rated load the way it should.

Built for Every Job, Every Load, and Every Tow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pacbrake air spring kits are built for heavy towing: inch-thick aluminum end caps, beefy brackets, and 20 support wires — the most in the industry. Choose an ALPHA HD (5,000 lb) kit for everyday work and towing, or step up to ALPHA XD (7,500 lb) for frequent heavy trailer hauling, fifth-wheels, and sustained loads. Both keep your truck level and stable under tongue weight, so you tow without sag or sway.

No. Air spring kits level your truck and restore ride height under load. They do not change your vehicle's rated payload, axle capacity, or maximum tow rating.

Yes. By sharing the load, air springs reduce stress on your leaf springs and shocks — extending the life of your existing suspension components.

Yes. Pacbrake air spring kits are designed for DIY installation with basic hand tools — no cutting or welding on most applications. Every kit ships with vehicle-specific brackets, hardware, and a step-by-step install guide, and installation videos are available on our YouTube channel. If you'd rather not do it yourself, use our dealer finder to locate an installer near you.

Adjust pressure to match your load — heavier loads require higher PSI. Check your kit's load chart and adjust before every tow. Underinflated bags are the most common cause of rear sag.

Only ALPHA PRO Series kits with an internal jounce bumper are designed to run at 0 psi when unloaded. Standard kits require minimum pressure at all times to prevent the bag from bottoming out.

The most common causes are insufficient air pressure, excessive tongue weight beyond your truck's rated capacity, poor weight distribution, or worn factory suspension components. Air spring kits restore ride height — they do not increase your payload or tow rating.

Yes. Our BRAVO Air Control system lets you adjust air pressure from inside the cab — no manual valve, no getting out of the truck. Use our BRAVO Wireless Air Control phone app or a compact handheld remote HP10660 to dial in your pressure on the go, loaded or empty.
